Latest Rocky Point News about Welcoming Tourists

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

Puerto Peñasco will be welcoming back visitors as of June 16th, marking Phase III of the city’s plan to revive the local economy during the present coronavirus pandemic.

Phase III in Puerto Peñasco will represent a gradual reopening of hotels and resorts (limited capacity), along with a possible % increase as to maximum permitted numbers for social gatherings and in local businesses/restaurants. We have been told that by June 16th, Federal guidelines will also provide for reopening of beaches – even if under certain restrictions.

As of this writing the restrictions are that people may use the resort pools and amenities and they may go to the beach but as of now there is question as to whether people will be allowed to swim in the ocan. Although authorization has been granted for use of Federal concession part of the beach, this does not authorize swimming in the ocean. This being a federal mandate we are hoping that this will be allowed as soon as possible but cannot guarantee you'll be able to swim in the ocen before July 15 when the restrictions are expected to be fully lifted.

Social distancing is expected to remain in place and people are still asked to wear masks when in public in town. As much as possible the authorities are asking that tourits remain in their resorts / rental properties and avoid going to town.

Stay tuned for more news. We are expecting a press relaease by Firday the 12th of June.
